Napoleon JV Football Crushes Hanover-Horton 48-14

Napoleon, MI. – The Napoleon Pirates cruised to their third victory of the season, a huge 48-14 win over the Hanover-Horton Comets. The Pirates received the ball first and moved down the field quickly as Zyaire Fair ran behind some solid blocking for the first score. Cayden Wright converted on the two-point conversion to give the Pirates an early 8-0 lead.

The Pirates’ defense did a great job holding the Comets on fourth down and stopping them short, giving the Pirates the ball at midfield. Early in the second quarter, Henry Laretz ran the ball up the middle for a big score, with Julian Price getting the two-point conversion. The Comets took over, and as they drove, Rylan Hartman picked off the ball. Immediately after, Laretz got his second score of the night, running the ball on the left side for a 53-yard run. After the two-point conversion, it gave the Pirates a huge 24-0 lead.

With less than a minute to go in the first half, Logan Mazur caught a pass in coverage and broke away for a 53-yard score, and the two-point conversion gave the Pirates a huge 32-0 lead at halftime.

The Comets started the second half with the ball, but the Pirates’ defense stopped them, forcing a punt. After a big 48-yard pass by quarterback Brycen Nall, it was Fair running the ball in for his second score of the night. Nall ran it in for the two-point conversion, giving the Pirates a big 40-0 lead. On the next Comet drive, they fumbled, with the Pirates recovering at the 29-yard line. Just a few plays later, it was Julian Price running for the score with Nall on the conversion, putting the Pirates up 48-0.

The Comets got the first score of the game with about 5 and a half minutes left to go in the game. The two-point conversion was no good. A few minutes later, the Comets’ Alex Sherwood would pick up a Pirates fumble and run it in for the score. The conversion was good, giving the Pirates a 48-14 victory.

Many Pirates players left the game with injury, including quarterback Karson Graham and lineman Trenton Henrry, and we hope everyone will be okay and hope for the best for everyone.

The Pirates will travel to Addison on the 21st, next Monday, with a 6 o’clock kickoff.
