Brooklyn, MI. – On a Wednesday afternoon with perfect weather for outdoor sports, the Pirates of Napoleon boys soccer team fought hard and battled to their first victory in their short tenure. They came away with a huge 2-1 victory less than 1 week after they achieved their first tie. This was a great accomplishment, as the young team is only early in their second season.
The Pirates’ defense played excellently, with great play by Everett Keinath, Brooks Soper, and Matt Smith. Senior Jacsen Hodkinson had 6 saves in goal. The Pirates’ goals were scored by German exchange student Alex Grosse and Latvian exchange student Harry Beerzins, with an assist by Donovan Keinath. Also they had three new shot takers in the game: Sophomore Dustin Chambers, Freshman Zach Buggett, and Junior Daniel Slugay.
This was a big step in the young team’s future, as there will be many more victories to come, and the team and Pirate community were very happy about the victory.
The Pirates will travel to Grass Lake on Wednesday to take on the Warriors at 4 P.M.
