Columbus, Ohio –
Dorka Juhasz, Ohio State Women’s Basketball team’s top player, announced that she is entering the transfer portal and finishing out her great career somewhere else. The 6 foot four inch forward from Pecs, Hungary has earned first-team All-Big Ten honors for each of the past two seasons. She made the announcement on her Twitter page.
She stated that after discussion with her family she has decided to enter the portal with two years of eligibility left. With the NCAA granting all athletes an extra year, Juhász still has two more seasons of collegiate eligibility. She will be a graduate transfer, as she’s set to earn her degree from Ohio State a year early. Covid, missing her family and missing the postseason were the main reasons she cited for leaving. The Buckeyes gave themselves a postseason ban because of activities done by a former assistant coach in the past.
Juhász was an immediate impact player at Ohio State and started her freshman year strong, leading the Buckeyes with 11.7 points and nine rebounds per game, earning second-team All-Big Ten honors. She again led the team in both categories with 13.2 points and 9.4 rebounds per game in 2019-20 to earn first-team all-conference recognition. As a junior this past season, Juhász averaged more than a double-double with 14.6 points and 11.1 rebounds per game in 17 games and she ranked second in the entire Big Ten in rebounding.
Ohio State should be returning several of its top players from last season, including top scorer on the team Jacy Sheldon, along with Madison Greene, Braxtin Miller, and Aaliyah Patty. The 6 foot 4 inch forward from Slovakia Rebeka Mikulasikova will help to fill the loss Of Juhasz and Buckeyes Head Coach, Kevin McGuff will be bringing in a lot of young talent.
The Buckeyes will have again a very young team with returning freshman Gabby Hutcherson, Anyssa Jones, Hevynne Bristow, and Kateri Poole. But with great leadership at the helm, the Buckeyes will be competing once again for a Big Ten championship.
