Clinton, MI. – On a very unseasonably hot day, the Pirates soccer team traveled down to Clinton for a game against the Redwolves. It was the Pirates’ second game of the season for the young team, which is only in its second year.
The Redwolves took a big 3-goal lead into the second half, but after some great adjustments, the Pirates didn’t give up in spite of the excessive heat. Senior Alex Grosse scored his first goal of the season, assisted by Herry Beerzins, while Junior captain midfielder Donovan Keinath picked up his second goal of the season with an assist from Grosse.
The Pirates were battling back and headed to victory, but the game was called due to a serious injury to the Clinton goalkeeper with 16:27 left in the game, plus the excessive heat. Hopefully the goalie will be okay.
The Pirates will travel to Brooklyn Wednesday the 9th at 4 P.M. to take on Columbia Central and try to pick up their first victory of the season.
