The Lady Gators of Ypsilanti Arbor Prep High School received many individual rewards after they clinched their state championship, their second in 3 years and third overall. The awards are very well-deserved as these girls bring everything to the game and leave it on the court. They are not just hard workers and tough fair players on the court but very good academic students off the court. And they worked very hard to reap these rewards.
Stephanie Utomi, Senior First Team- Stephanie is a very tough player and is a great team leader and is not afraid give her all on every play no matter the cost. She and her twin sister Stacy formed together one of the best frontcourts in the state helping to lead her Gators to their second championship in three years. The Mercer commit recorded 12.6 points, 8.6 rebounds, 3.1 steals, 2.9 assists and 1.2 blocks per game for the Gators.
Stacy Utomi, Senior Second Team – Stacy along with her aforementioned twin sister had an outstanding season helping to lead her Gators to another Championship. She will be attending Mercer along with her sister. Stacy averaged 10.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 2.9 steals per game this season.
Taylor Wallace, Senior Second Team – Taylor had a great season and has developed into one of the most dangerous three-point shooters in the state over her career with her Gators. She set a record with 8 three-pointers in a game on her homecourt this season, the most in one game for her team. Overall she made over 90 deep shots this past season. Taylor also is not afraid to get tough and physical and drives to the hoop when needed. She led the team with 13.5 points to go along with 3.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 2.1 steals per game.
Eliza Bush, Junior Honorable Mention – Eliza is a very heads-up guard for her Gators and has a very deadly three-point shot. Although she might not be the biggest player on the court she will challenge anybody and will never back down and will do whatever it takes for her team. She will fight for the ball and she plays a very solid defensive game and is very coachable and has a lot of heart for her team.
Autumn Pernell, Junior Honorable Mention – Autumn has really developed over the last couple of seasons and plays very hard and is not afraid to go for it all when needed even if it means physical repercussions. She plays a very heads-up game and listens to her coaches and is very positive for her team and is looking to make a big impact in her senior season.
