Ypsilanti Arbor Prep Girl’s Basketball Coach Scott Stine Named Coach Of The Year

Ypsilanti Arbor Prep’s Head Coach of the Gators girl’s basketball team was honored as Co-Coach of the Year after leading Arbor Prep to its second Division 3 state championship in the past three seasons. Stine is an outstanding coach and has a great reputation in the Michigan High school community. Every year he keeps his Gators up among the state’s top programs and as athletic director of the school arranges one of the toughest schedules for his team in the state usually against top tier Division schools that have a history of championships.

Stine coached his elite Gators to a 25-4 record and a state championship and had plenty of help from his outstanding staff. In seven seasons as head coach Stine has a 141-34 record and three championships and has been in the state finals 5 times and has appeared in the final four 7 times. And he’s not done yet as the future always looks bright for the Gators.

Before his time with Arbor Prep, he coached South Arbor Academy for 8 years and coached AAU ball with the Michigan Sting and Michigan Storm.

Stine is not just great with his players on the court he does a great job as an influential leader off the court as his players always excel in the classroom and after graduation. Many of his players state he is one of the most positive role models they ever had in their lives.

“It’s not just about basketball, it’s about teaching life lessons in your effort, your commitment, your dedication, your trust in your teammates, all of those things are going to take these girls to great places when they are done with basketball,” Stine stated after his 2024 championship. “And we have a lot of alumni who now are adults and doing great things and I’m super proud of these girls and privileged to be at Arbor Prep for 13 years and counting.”
