May 23, 2025: The final weeks of the high school softball regular season have arrived, with the MHSAA postseason slated to begin on Tuesday, May 27, and district champions set to be crowned on Saturday, May 31.
The latest high school softball rankings were released on Wednesday, May 21, headlined by a new No. 1 in Division 2. Escanaba takes over as the top-ranked team in D2 after two successful weeks, competing with top-ranked Division 1 teams at the Michigan Challenge Tournament. Gaylord, the previous top-ranked team and two-time defending state champions in D2, fell to No. 3.
Other big movers include Gladstone, up to No. 2 in Division 3, thanks to wins over Gaylord and Escanaba over the past week and a half.
