Ann Arbor, MI. – Coming into today’s game against Arch Rivals Michigan with 3,902 total rushing yards in his career, Ohi State junior J.K. Dobbins needed just 59 yards to tie Ezekiel Elliott (3,961) for second on the school’s all-time rushing list. He did that easily early in the game as he rushed for 211 yards on 31 carries and found the end zone 4 times, the most ever for him in a single game. Archie Griffin, the only two time Heisman Trophy winner in NCAA history, is the all-time record holder with 5,589 yards.
Dobbins is a solid candidate for the Heisman in spite of playing in limited action this season due to his dominant Buckeyes being way ahead of opponents late in the game. It also helps that he is running behind one of, if not the, best offensive line in college. Dobbins has 1,446 yards on the season with a 6.6 average and has 15 touchdowns. The 211 yards against Michigan are the most in a game this season for him.
A native of La Grange, Texas, Dobbins was the No. 2 all-purpose running back in the 2017 class, according to 247Sports. He has surpassed 1,000 yards on the ground in each of his three seasons for the buckeyes. The Buckeyes will be playing December 7th in the Big Ten Championship game in Indianapolis against the winner of the Minnesota-Wisconsin game to be decided later today.
