Chelsea, MI. – The cooler fall season is setting in but it did not stop the fans from coming out Wednesday night to support their hometown Bulldogs who played host to the Jackson Vikings.
It did not take long for the Bulldogs to take the lead as Junior Braden McKenzie scored to give the Bulldogs the early edge. The Bulldogs had many great advantages in the first half and dominated on offense keeping the Viking goalkeeper busy.
The second half was more of the same with most of the action coming in front of the Viking’s goal. But the Vikings did a great job defending and keeping the score 1-0 until about 15 minutes left in the game.
After a shot by Chelsea, the Viking goalkeeper dropped the ball and there was a big scrum in front of the net for the loose ball until the surefooted Bulldog senior Devon Reginaldo hammered the ball into the back of the net to get the Bulldogs a more secure 2-0 lead.
Both teams would battle hard until the end but the Bulldog’s defense was the big difference to secure the shutout.
Chelsea will host one of the top teams in the state tonight, Detroit Country Day, and finish the season out on the road next Monday under the lights in Pinckney.
