Chelsea, MI. – On Thursday, the Bulldogs of Chelsea hosted their Relays track meet in much better weather than their victory over Pinckney in the freezing cold and 40-plus mile an hour winds two days earlier. The Bulldogs finished first in the Boys and Girls Events, with the boys edging out second-place East Lansing 87-84. The girls heavily dominated the meet, finishing over second-place Linden with a 117 -75 score. The girls’ Freshman Sophomore team won with 10 points while the boys finished with 4 points.
Some of the major winners on the day for the Chelsea girls include Junior Karlie Van Remortel, who finished with 9 feet 9 inches in the pole vault. Kennedy Anderson finished first in the high jump with a 4 feet 10 inches jump. Junior India Barney took second in the long jump with a 13-foot-11-inch jump. She was quite busy all day as she competed in several other events, including three other relay events, in which her teams took first place.
Senior Anna Bryant took first place in the shot put with a throw of 35 feet 8 inches, while freshman Melina King had a very impressive 25 feet 4 inches throw. King also participated in other relays, helping her teams to first place, and did a great job getting her personal record (p.r.) in the 4 x200. The girls took first place in 8 out of 10 of the relays for the day.
For the boys, Eli Bennett finished in second place in the pole vault with a jump of 11 feet 3 inches, and Indiana Hurst finished second in the shot put with a throw of 44 feet 8 inches. The boys finished first in 3 of the relays and second in 2 of them.
The Bulldogs will be traveling to Ypsilanti on Tuesday at 4:30 for more great competition.
