The Arbor Prep Gators started out fast and furious as they hosted the Lakers on their home court, the Swamp, and took a big 13 point lead before the Lakers were able to get on the board. Freshman sensation Mya Petticord got the scoring started with a deep 3 point shot and through a great team effort, the Gators were able to easily take care of the Lakers, 68-27.
The Gators cruised to an easy victory behind Petticord’s hot hand as she led all scorers with 19 points. She also pulled down 8 rebounds and had several assists, steals, and blocked shots. Helping her out was Senior guard Mahri Petree who had a double/double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman guard Jazmin Chupp had 8 points and 7 rebounds while Cianna Singleton put up 7 points for the Gators.
The Lakers tried hard as they might but didn’t have an answer for the speed of the Gators. They also couldn’t break through the Gators relentless defense as they were held to only 2 points in the first quarter and 5 in the third.
