Chelsea, MI.-Tuesday night the Lady Bulldogs of Chelsea continued their winning ways running their record to 11-1 on the season after soundly defeating the visiting Tecumseh Indians 42-29.
The Bulldogs took control early as Junior AJ Fullerton took the ball on the first possession and hit a long 3. The Indians fought back though and after a mistake-filled first quarter for both sides took a 7-7 tie into the second. With very little scoring going on between both teams Chelsea took a 17-15 lead into halftime. Chelsea was getting some good reads and getting good shots off but they just weren’t falling for them.
At halftime, the Bulldogs honored the young traveling girls basketball teams of the 3rd through 6 grades. The young girls filled the court before the crowd posing for pictures and taking a well-deserved bow for all their hard play, effort, and dedication to the game they love.
After the half, the Bulldogs came out strong as junior Brianna Hay got hot sinking two long 3’s and the Bulldog defense was relentless taking the ball away and crashing the boards holding Tecumseh to just 3 points in the quarter. In the final stanza, Tecumseh tried to make a good effort but couldn’t get it done as the Bulldogs cruised to a 13 point victory.
Chelse’s Fullerton led all scorers with 12 points while Hay finished with 10. Riley Davis hit 6 free throws to help her finish with 8 on the night while Jenna Fosdick had 6.
The Bulldogs are off until next Monday when they travel to take on the Okemos Chiefs.
