Jackson, MI.-It was a beautiful afternoon at Ella Sharp Park in Jackson on Friday, the perfect day for cross-country meets. 21 middle school boys’ teams and 18 girls’ teams competed, running different heats. The boys’ heat was first.
Portage West took first place, Portage North took second, and Saline took third place. Eighth-grader Tim Tomas from Ann Arbor Tappan took first place with a time of 10:47.2. Hudson Jones of Saline took second place, Elijah Deming of Portage West took third, and Jesse Holmes of Portage North took fourth, all finishing the 2-mile course in under 11 minutes.
For the girls, Portage West took first place, Jonesville second, and Temperance Bedford took third. Riley Scott of Portage West took first place with a time of 11:53. Isabel McNair of Jonesville finished in second, while Chelsea 8th grader Lauren Heinze took third place with a time of 12:25.1
