Napoleon, MI. – The State of Michigan high school volleyball season kicked off Wednesday night with the Pirates of Napoleon hosting a quad meet at their Pirate Plex. Napoleon had some tough competition but came out on top, defeating Jackson Christian and Brighton Sharyl Stockwell Prep.
The Pirates did a great job, kept focused throughout the matches, stepped up big when needed, and started their young season 2-0. Team leaders on the night were Claire Beer with 26 kills and 22 digs; Myla Hasegawa with 23 kills, 20 digs, and 11 aces; Hallie Duvall with 42 digs; Lydia Warner with 28 assists; and Jenna Yob with 23 assists.
The Pirates will hit the road for their next series, taking on Onsted at 5 P.M. Monday, then traveling to Columbia Central on Wednesday for a match at 6:30.
The Junior Varsity team did a great job winning their first two matches of the season, also. They will head to Sand Creek Monday for a quad meet starting at 5 P.M.
