Chelsea Girls Basketball Falls To Detroit Edison 55-40

Chelsea, MI. – On Thursday night the Chelsea girls varsity basketball team played host to Detroit Edison in the regular season finale and fell short in a 55-40 loss. Both teams started competitively against one another tied up at 11 after the first and Edison took a 22-19 lead into the half.

After the half, Edison went on a big run doubling the points Chelsea scored, and took a big 9-point lead into the fourth quarter. Edison dominated in the fourth with some solid defense to take a commanding double-digit lead and finished with a 15-point victory.

Aleeah Wells led the Bulldogs with 12 points while Avery Lay finished with 11, and Maggie McKale had ten. Junior Addie Howard did an outstanding job setting picks and playing very solid defense for the Bulldogs.

Chelsea finished the season 16-4 and will play host Wednesday at 5:30 in the Division 2 District 52 tournament. 4-time state champions Detroit Edison finish the season 14-6 and will play in the girls’ District 57 Division 2 tournament Wednesday at 5:30 against Detroit University Prep Science and Math at Dearborn Advanced Academy.
