Ypsilanti, MI. – The Gators of Arbor Prep were ready to take on the Cass Tech Technicians who just came off a huge 68-point victory over Detroit Northwestern and had rattled off three straight victories with a plus 40 point differential. But the Gators Head coach Scott Stine and staff had his girls ready to play their game. And their game is tough hard hard-nosed basketball and to never give up. And they didn’t.
After a tough fast-paced first quarter, the Gators found themselves trailing. However, Coach Stine had his girls back out there in the second quarter fighting hard as usual and after a couple of big shots by Junior Autumn Pernell the Gators had the lead never to relinquish it or have Cass Tech even get close until the final buzzer.
Pernell hit a big NBA 3-point shot and then scored again off a steal and the Gators never looked back as they held Cass Tech to only 3 points while they rattled off 23. It’s the Gator’s 14th victory in a row as they improve to 16-2 on the season.
The Gators in a great team effort were led in scoring by Stephanie Utomi with 16 points, Taylor Wallace with 14, Autumn Pernell with 9, and Stacy Utomi with 8.
Cass Tech drops to 10-8 on the season and the Gators, who play perhaps the toughest girls basketball schedule in the state, will host 13-2 Detroit Edison at 6. P.M.
