Ypsilanti, MI. – Saturday was a huge day for the Arbor Prep Gator’s girl’s basketball team. Not only did they blow out Genesee Christian by 40 points it was the day the seniors were all honored. However, the icing on the cake was Gator senior Taylor Wallace setting her school’s three-point shot record with 8 of them in limited play because of the blowout.
Wallace was on fire and scored all 24 of her points off threes, many of them from professional range, on 8 of 9 shooting. She had 5 at the half and when Head Coach Stine took her out in the third quarter he informed her she had set the record.
“This feels great,” Wallace stated after the game. “I’ve been trying to get this record since my freshman year and getting it now it’s just amazing.
Wallace wasn’t looking to focus on setting the record because she is a team player and was just focusing on playing a great game for her team and making her shots.
“My teammates passed me the ball and gave me the opportunity to score and I couldn’t do it without them and my coaches.”
Wallace has been playing basketball since the fourth grade and she has enjoyed her time at Arbor Prep and the school and basketball have impacted her in many positive ways.
Wallace has several offers from many colleges across the country but is still sifting through them all before she makes her decision.
