Chelsea Lacrosse Kicks Season Off in Huge 20-3 Victory

Chelsea, MI.- On an unseasonably cold Michigan spring evening the fans of the Chelsea Bulldogs lacrosse team came out in droves braving the elements to cheer their team on. They wrapped themselves in layers, blankets, and hot beverages were the norm as they did what they could to brave the cold. While it was cold in the stands the Bulldogs varsity team was on fire on the field as they thrashed the Pinckney Pirates in a huge way, opening the season with a big 20-3 victory.

The Bulldogs scored early and often as the Pirates were no match for the faster, more seasoned Bulldogs. Sophomore Brad Fischer got the victory in net as he stopped all but 3 shots he faced in his first ever varsity game.

“I was really nervous at first,”  the young goalkeeper stated. “But then the jitters went away and I settled down and knew my defense and my teammates had my back.”

“This was a great way to start the season,” Chelsea Head Coach Joe Koengeter stated. “The kids played really hard and deserve this victory and I’m really proud of them.”

The Junior Captain Cam Breining led the Bulldogs with 8 goals, one less than his all-time high in a game.

“I think we had good moments in the game but also a few bad ones we will learn from,” Breining said. ‘It is a great way to start the season and I think we really played as one team towards the end. I’m looking forward to seeing how we progress as the season continues.”

The Bulldogs return to action tonight under the lights at 7 P.M. as they host Howell.
