Xenith Prep Football Classic In Detroit Kicks Off

DETROIT (Aug. 28, 2019) — In celebration of the 15th anniversary of the Xenith Prep Kickoff Classic, the 2019 event will feature a variety of firsts, including a special FOX Sports Detroit (FSD) “Football Week in Michigan” field-level set that will host live cut-ins from Detroit Tigers’ pre-and-post game and in-game broadcasts from Comerica Park. FSD coverage will be hosted by John Keating, with special guests former Detroit Lions Herman Moore and Joique Bell and former Wolverine quarterback Devin Gardner.

As the premier season-opening high school football showcase in Michigan, the Xenith Prep Kickoff Classic will be held Aug. 29-31 at Tom Adams Field on the campus of Wayne State University in Midtown Detroit. Since its inception in 2005, the Detroit Sports Commission, as event founder and organizer, has focused on an inclusive method of selecting game match-ups and has hosted more than 80 teams from Michigan and surrounding states. 

As event title sponsor, Detroit-based helmet and football equipment manufacturer Xenith will be on site with an exciting and engaging new mobile display that will allow fans to try on Xenith products and create fun selfies to share with friends.  The Xenith display will also offer those on-site the opportunity to purchase a custom-printed t-shirt they can proudly wear as they support their favorite team.

All games of the Xenith Prep Kickoff Classic will be available through live streaming video on MHSAA.TV through its broadcast partner the National Football High School (NFHS) Network and available via subscription at www.nfhsnetwork.com. Games can also be streamed live on the FOX Sports GO app.

On Saturday, Aug. 31 the Detroit Catholic Central vs. Detroit Martin Luther King game at 1 p.m. will be the Detroit Lions High School Game of the Week and the hometown NFL team is sure to offer up some fun football activities for fans on-site.

Fans at the Xenith Prep Kickoff classic looking to enjoy concessions will have an extensive choice of tasty treats provided by Andiamo Italia ranging from the traditional high school football fare of hot dogs, popcorn and soda to moderately-priced dishes of specialty pizzas and other offerings. In addition to the wide sampling of food provided by Andiamo, Bearclaw Coffee Company will be in the house to offer flavorful hot and cold drinks, including hand-made smoothies and iced teas.

Online tickets are available as a convenience for fans at detroitsports.org/pkctickets or through the mobile app, GoFan. Pre-sale tickets can also be purchased in-person at select schools for a discounted price of $9. A portion of the pre-sale proceeds benefits the schools. Tickets at the gate on game days are $10. Children 5 and under are free. One ticket grants admission to all games on that particular day.
