Chelsea’s Fayth Frazier Signs Water Polo/Swimming College Letter Of Intent

Chelsea, MI. – Surrounded by her family and friends Chelsea High School senior Fayth Frazier signed her national letter of intent to continue her outstanding water polo and swimming career at Urbana University located in Urbana, Ohio. Urbana is a private university located in a beautiful setting just 47 miles west of the Ohio capital of Columbus.

After receiving many scholarship offers from across the country, Fayth, who has been swimming competitively since fourth grade and has been playing water polo since her freshman year of high school, felt Urbana was her best fit and is very excited to be a part of the Blue Knight family.

“Urbana was the best fit for me academically and athletically,” Fayth stated. “They offer online courses and offer internships for certain majors, which will help lead me into a career. Athletically, this is their first water polo team in 2021 which will be great to help me get a grip on college athletics with the new team. The swim team is small but powerful. I’m also a homebody which was scary when looking at colleges out of state, but Urbana is close to home (3 hours away) and will be the best fit for me.”

Fayth really enjoyed the recruiting process. She got to visit a few colleges and practice with the teams and meet many new people. She was excited to see colleges far from home and close to home to really get the feel of what being gone will feel like. She had several college visits set up but once she went to Urbana she knew it was the one.

Fayth enjoys swimming and she feels it’s a sport where you can focus your strength on yourself and your own times and once you dive into that water it’s only you in that race. Fayth swims the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, the 200 medley relay, and the 400 freestyle relay.

In water polo, Fayth plays goalie where she made a name for herself with her outstanding play. She started in goal her freshman year as the junior varsity goalie when she was just randomly placed there, mainly because of her 6-foot frame. She really loves having the team and enjoys having the ability to carry her team and help the whole group succeed with her personal success.

“Being a goalie means you help coach call out plays, you help the overall atmosphere of the game with your abilities, and you are one of the most important players on the team,” Fayth said. “I think that’s really crucial for me as a person. “

Fayth plans to study criminal justice but specifically cybersecurity at Urbana. She is very excited to get to explore new environments and have new experiences. She’s also excited to meet new people and gain so many new relationships.

She credits her success, not only in the water but in life in general, to the people she looks up to most in her life and who has always been there to inspire her. Her Dad Ben and his girlfriend Sherri Krastes, her older brother Travis, her water polo coach Jess Hinderer, boyfriend Riley Watkin, and friends Green Patton Scott and Brynn Vandegrift.

“They have been my biggest support system through so many issues but they’ve also been there for all the triumphs,” Fayth stated.

Fayth is really anticipating this next big step in her life and is very excited. She will be playing water polo in the spring in Chelsea one last season and her goal is to make it the best season ever for her and her team.

” I want everyone to know that through the worst of times there are still things to look forward to, a light that will always shine through the darkness,” Fayth profoundly states. “Even the smallest bit.”
