Chelsea Girls Defeat Dexter On The Hardcourt

2018 Chelsea varsity girls

When Dexter and Chelsea meet in any sports all records and stats go out the window. And that was just how it was Friday night as the Bulldogs hosted the Dreadnaughts for a 5:30 tip-off. Chelsea started out strong but Dexter gave them a good run for their money as the Lady Bulldogs held on for a 42-35 victory to improve to 10-1 on the season.

The Bulldogs started fast and furious running out to a big 11-2 lead but Dexter had a big 2nd quarter to cut the lead to 20-14 at the half. The Bulldogs came out of the locker room with a lot of intensity and held the Dreads to just 5 points in the third period. The Dreads had a big fourth period but it was too little too late as the Bulldogs took the big W and stayed undefeated in conference play, their lone loss on the season to the Marshall Redhawks.

“It always feels good to win against Dexter,” Chelsea Junior Madeleine “MBK” Kennedy stated. Kennedy, who finished the night with 2 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists further went on to say, “We all know a lot of the girls on Dexter so it feels great to come out and compete against some of your friends and former teammates. It’s extremely rewarding to finish the game on top with the whole crowd cheering you on.”
The Bulldogs were led by Junior Abigale “AJ” Fullerton who had a big scoring night finishing with 18 points including 3 from beyond the arc. Junior Jenna Fosdick finished with 9 points while Katelyn McKinley finished with 7.
Chelsea will be back in action this Tuesday at home for a 7 P.M. tip-off against Tecumseh.
